Entrepreneurship: The Dream-Struggle-Victory
In 2007, I relocated from Freeport, Grand Bahama to The Exumas in the capacity of revenue auditor for the Casino at Emerald Bay’. It was an exciting time filled with fun and promise. Then it happened: the financial crisis of 2007–2008, also known as the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), which eventually led to the closure of the casino.
Birth of an entrepreneur
I'm just a small island boy who discovered a big world. I was certainly a dreamer and believed in the magic of thinking big! I was formerly employed as a banker, hotelier and ship’s agent. Basically, I've been in the customer service business all of my career. I'm not surprised that I still vividly remember my entrepreneurial aspirations since being a young boy. At age 13 I began baking and selling banana & cornbread to the neighborhood kids. I also cut yards and by age 17, I along with my younger brother and childhood friend launched McNew Car Wash from my mother's front yard. But there was also a time when I once owned a rental company, grocery store and deli. I was a successful real estate investor from 1998 until early 2005. However, I really missed the world of multi-family real estate investing, negotiations, fixer uppers and apartments. Since that time, I have run The McNew Group from the sidelines.
The side hustle
Following the crisis of 2007-2008, I was blessed to obtain employment as the night auditor for Sandals Emerald Bay Golf, Tennis & Spa Resort. I was later promoted to Duty/Night Manager but I was still in search of my true purpose. It was a rough period as my electricity got cut off many times. I hot-wired internet services from the landlord and often found myself hiking to work as my car almost always needed to be repaired. Nonetheless, I began taking online courses and eventually learned how to build my first travel/ vacation rental website whilst being employed full-time. Unfortunately, it took four years before I got my first subscriber. Surely, this was embarrassing and stressful but I was determined, committed, and kept investing in my education. My family didn't understand and seemingly had little interest in my dreams and ambitions. Thankfully, this wasn't the end of my story.
Making A Difference
I now use my ever-expanding platform to dispense useful and practical advice regarding online businesses, entrepreneurship. and success. This includes everything from starting a blog, creating online courses, and launching a membership site. While I have also delivered expert advice on making money online, budgeting, and time management, I wasn’t always a practitioner. Yet, I understand that people are looking for practical and effective solutions to achieve entrepreneurship, freedom, and success. Hence, via my membership group. you now have the opportunity to surround yourself with an amazing group of entrepreneurs all taking their businesses to new heights. I have been married to my beautiful, smart and sassy wife, Ingrid (picture inset) for twenty-two years. We have numerous nieces and nephews in addition to several adopted sons and daughters. - Marsha, my mom (RIP) lost her battle to cancer but we called her "Da Chief."

- Marcian, my youngest brother, was actually my ring-bearer at my wedding.
