Before picking a platform to start selling online courses, read my review of Kajabi. I’ll share the pros and cons of the platform and compare it to the other top online course platforms.
Now, if you’ve created a digital product and a sales funnel for it…
And you have all your download files ready and you’re close to launching it – congrats! But hey, you’re not done yet.
You need a system in place to deliver your course. If it’s just an eBook, you could easily provide a download link and be done with it. But what if it’s a full-blown video course?
You may have chapters and modules, and you want your customers/students to follow your training in a step-by-step manner. You’ll also want to protect your content from those who haven’t paid.
Maybe you’d prefer to drip the content where your students get access to 1 chapter and 7 modules each week. This bite-sized approach to consuming content will keep them focused and on track without making things seem too overwhelming.
In order to do that, what you need is a Learning Management System (LMS). With such software, you’ll be able to lay out your course in an organized manner so that learning will be a pleasant experience for your students.
One of the most popular LMS software used by thousands of online marketers is Kajabi. Let’s see why it’s so popular for selling and delivering your own courses…
Quick Navigation
What is Kajabi?
Company Background & Overview
Kajabi (affiliate link) was co-founded in Irvine, California, in 2010 by Kenny Rueter and Travis Rosser. Notably, Kenny had created a sprinkler toy with PVC pipes for his sons. It was an instant hit in the neighborhood. So, he made a how-to video for it, but Rueter, a software engineer, wanted to sell the video instead of posting it for free on YouTube. When he realized there was no easy solution, he started Kajabi.
Kajabi offers a subscription service to people who want to monetize their expertise, offering tools for creating websites, online classes, newsletters, podcasts, and collecting payment from members.
Taking a closer look, Kajabi also offers lead generation and product launch tools as well as webinar funnels through what’s called Blueprints to make your course selling business even more efficient. Accordingly, this removes the guesswork from your email marketing campaigns through efficient online business systematization.
Benefits of Kajabi
Okay, perhaps you might still be wondering: “What is Kajabi? and what does it do?” Whilst you can take a look at their Blog or Community, let’s dive deeper.
It’s The Gold Standard
There’s absolutely no denying that when it comes to learning management systems (LMS), Kajabi is deemed by many to be the best. It’s extremely popular and used by expert marketers to build funnels, sell products, etc.
The reason Kajabi is so powerful is that it’s not just an LMS but so much more. She’s an all-in-one solution that will take care of MOST of your online marketing needs.
Landing Page & Sales Page Builder
Yes, you can build landing pages, sales pages, thank you pages, and so on with Kajabi. So you don’t need a page builder like Thrive Architect or Leadpages.
Website Builder
Imagine that! You can build an actual website with Kajabi and even have your own custom domain. Most of the other LMS software can’t match this level of capability.
Sales Funnel Builder
And here you thought ClickFunnels was the bomb. No… with Kajabi, you can link up your sales pages, upsell pages, etc. and build a funnel with ease too. The visual automations make it easy to see exactly what you’re doing.
While other funnel builders can do what Kajabi is doing, they can’t manage your courses, as well as Kajabi, can. This brings us to the next point…
Course Management
At its core, Kajabi is a learning management system, just like Teachable and Thinkific. You can set up your courses with modules, chapters, etc. in Kajabi. Here’s the best part – Kajabi will host your videos for you.
Unlike Thrive Apprentice where you’ll need to host your videos on Vimeo, Kajabi does not have this hassle. It will host all your pages, videos, products, and more.
Running a membership site with Kajabi is easy too. You can protect your content, drip-feed it, charge recurring payments, and more.
You won’t need other tools like Dropbox, etc. to store your files. This is one reason why many marketers opt for Kajabi. It saves time and effort… and money, in the long run.
14-Day Free Trial
If you wish you could just get a sneak peek into Kajabi’s backend interface, guess what? You can!
They have a free 14-day trial for you to test out the features. Kajabi knows that you’ll be so impressed you probably end up staying on and upgrading. Do take advantage of this free trial.
Great For eCommerce Too
Can you even believe this?
Not only can you sell digital products with Kajabi, but you can sell physical products too. If you really want to take your marketing to the next level, you can actually combine it with Shopify and use Shopify’s buy buttons in your Kajabi store.
Integrated Email Management
You don’t need a 3rd party autoresponder if you have Kajabi. Their system has a built-in email marketing tool that you can use to send broadcast emails and so on.
Support
If you’re subscribing to the Growth and Pro plans, you can access live chat support 24/7. If you’re on the Basic plan, live chat is available from 6 am-5 pm Pacific time. Kajabi’s support is reliable, prompt, and polite.
Drawbacks of Kajabi
The features mentioned above are just the tip of the iceberg. You can see the full list of features on the official website.
That said, we think there’s only one con to Kajabi… and this too is subjective. The software is pricey. The Basic plan costs $149 a month ($119 if you pay annually). This can be steep for many marketers on a tight budget.
Generally, this tool is for marketers who already have a business online that’s generating income and will justify the cost of Kajabi. The Growth and Pro plans cost even more – but if you’re making a high 4-5 figures a month, Kajabi is relatively affordable for the value it provides.
Not to mention, you won’t need to pay monthly fees for many other tools because Kajabi already has these features. So, you might actually be saving money here and making things more convenient for yourself by having it all on one platform.
Kajabi’s Pricing Summary
We’ve already established that Kajabi is a high-end course platform featuring an impressive suite of tools that you’d usually have to source from 3rd parties with other providers. Therefore, when taking Kajabi on a date, she comes along with her own email management, sales funnel builder, marketing automations, web hosting plus themes, a blog function, and a course marketplace.
Very quickly, you’d be saddled with escalating costs if you were to purchase these functions from 3rd parties. Certainly, you could face a cash outlay of several hundred dollars for other 3rd party sales funnel software alone.
At the entry-level, Kajabi’s lowest tier, the Basic plan ($149/mo.) exceeds the costs of the low-price tiers from the other course providers. Nonetheless, she is well-dressed with all the costume jewelry such as email management and funnel builder. The particular caveat is that you are restricted to only three courses.
For this reason, I recommend the Growth plan ($199/mo.). This plan features everything in the Basic plan plus facilitates up to 15 courses. The extra sauce includes affiliate management as well as marketing automatons.
Is Kajabi Worth the Money?
Yes. Kajabi is the Beyonce of online course platforms so dating comes at a premium. However, Kajabi has such a solid reputation she doesn’t need hype or a soliloquy to persuade anyone. Out of the dressing room, she is beautiful all by herself and that alone should suffice to convince you.
Consider taking her out and you’ll never look back. She’s simply that awesome. Case closed.
